I’d like to purchase a pressure cooker to prepare meals in when I get home from work to save time. Any tips on cooking with them? Are they safe and what brands work the best? Any recipes would be helpful also.

Boiling point of a liquid is directly proportional to pressure. So in a pressure cooker why does water get boiled faster?

This is a very old idea but it is very much fit for our lives today. With dual working families cooking food faster is very important. Why not have a pressure cooker to speed things up? I havn’t seen one in years.
If I had a pressure cooker I’d put my carrots in it right now. See my carrot question.

Has any body worked out the cost and energy economics of this ?In fact ( my opinion) thick bottom takes more energy to get the cooker heated to steam, also the loss of energy while waiting for ,the lid to open ( reducing steam pressure inside below ,outside atmospheric pressure) is considerable.

Roommates are using a pressure cooker to cook chicken as a time saver. I know nothing about pressure cookers really and would like to know if this is a safe cooking method in contrast to the conventional methods.
safe in regards to ensuring that it is thoroughly cooked despite the short time

I would like to do some canning this year, but my husband doesn’t want me to use a pressure cooker because he says they are unsafe and can blow up. I have heard of this before, but maybe that was older models???? Are today’s pressure cookers safe to use?
