I am working on a project designing a hand tool with a body made of stainless steel. Any advice about the best method to fix on a preformed steel handle (like a brick laying trowel handle)?

for example is it easier to weld normal steel to steel?
Also is it more difficult to weld stainless steel onto stainless steel?

    Any advice appreciated

    Cheers

Perfect solution for glass top stoves!, July 15, 2009

I stumbled upon this when searching for a “flat bottom” water bath canner for making dill pickles…it was recommended on a blog somewhere. I hesitated since I had never heard of “Jarden” brand, but then realized it was made by “Ball” of the mason jar fame.

The pot is a heavy bottom bot that sits flat on my glass cooktop. I checked the owners manual for my range and it stated I could can on top of it as long as the pot was flat and it did not extend too far over the edge of the burner. CHECK YOUR MANUAL to be certain, or call the company…not worth it to screw up the sensors on your stove, or damage the material.

The see-through glass is really handy for visual monitoring and it’s well made. Stunning stainless steel takes us out of the stone age in water bath canners. I am very pleased.

I’ve been canning for years, and I really appreciate this stainless steel water bath canner, which replaces my rusty, decrepit old graniteware. This is a well-made kettle. In addition to its sturdy construction and the thrill of having a kettle that doesn’t look like it’s been around since the 19th century, I like this Ball brand product because:
    (1) it has sturdy, easy-grip, rubber-covered handles; (2) it has a non-flimsy glass lid; (3) it has a good rack, the kind with indentations that allow you to rest it on the sides of the pot to load, before lowering it in. The unfamiliar “Jarden” name put me off for a moment, until I realized that it was the name of Ball’s corporate parent. So if your old canner looks like my old one did, indulge yourself. I figure I won’t ever have to buy another one.

Love the canner and liked that it was a Ball product. Works great on my glass top stove!
My box was setting on the patio, in the 99 degree sun, when I come home. When I open the box the canner felt very warm. I noticed the label was rolled up on one end and pulled it off with no residue of any kind on the side of the pot. For future buyers, just set the pot in the sun for an hour and pull label off with no problems.

trying to find this ring for my model pressure canner, I had to turn to the internet for a replacement. This would not normally be a problem except that this was in the middle of the heaviest part of my canning season. I was afraid that I would be without my canner for more than a week while I waited for the part to come in. However, after I ordered this part through Amazon, I received it in the mail within 4 days. When we’re talking about canning fresh produce, a few days can mean the difference between setting aside jars for the winter or consuming it all (if possible) immediately before spoilage occurs. I would highly recommend this seller as their shipping was extremely fast, the item was exactly as it was described, and I was able to get back to canning the produce from our garden in short order.

I ordered this seal and placed it in my canner. Toward the end of the second canning session it started to leak just like the one it replaced (that had been in the lid for ten years!) I’m not sure what the problem is. It’s not something that you can easily mess up. Maybe this seal had been on the shelf a long time before I got it. Anyway. Not very satisfied.

Our old Presto pressure canner model 01780 had started to drip water around the lid. This new seal fixed it right up.

A lot of people kept recommending stainless steel cookware. After reading up on it and stuff, I decided to take a shoot. Its been a big a real pain.

Things easy burn on the surface… seriously compromising the non-stickiness. I ruined a turner b/c I had kept the food moving around to stop sticking.

Also, a bigger pain to clean. From what I read, you don’t want use soapy water, since that will ruin the seasoning nor heavy duty pads. Any suggestions of cleaning?

There a way to keeps stuff from burning on instead of building up a good seasoning.

The only thing I can cook on it is eggs, omelets, and stuff, which turn out very nice. It got great heat retention and distribution compared to anything I have used. I guess I will learn to cook with it, but I need to know how to clean them better.
It is stainless I know how to read a box. The methods I mention were applicable to aluminum and stainless cookware.

I can’t seem to find any stainless steel travel mugs that have a stainless steel interior. Most come with a plastic interior, which I don’t really like. Where can I find the ones with stainless steel interiors?
