I would have given it 5 stars but had a problem with the particular item I bought, and am not yet sure whether it is a one-time or persistent issue. I bought this item along with about 6 or 7 other solar chargers to test with my HTC desire. most chargers are not listed as specifically compatible with the regular HTC desire, only later models (the S, Z, or 2), although the amps and other electrical technicalities are the same. This charger was one of the few I found with a mini USB tip. It has lights on the back that indicate how full the charge is, which is nice and something many other solar chargers lack. It was super light-weight and initially charged very fast from the sun, whereas when other models arrived, they said they took up to 19 hrs to charge by the sun. this one took maybe 4 hours and appeared to be mostly full (I apologize but I forgot to pay attention to the lights that indicate fullness). It also charged my phone very fast, approximately 25% in under an hour (then my phone was fully charged and I didn’t have any other mini usb items to test how much charging capacity was available, but the charger was not fully drained). It would be very convenient for carrying around in one’s car or purse. I live in the desert, so I was very excited about this inexpensive model, especially since it holds more of a charge than other models its size.

However, after the initial charge, this charger stopped charging from the sun and seemed not to fully charge from its USB option either, so I returned it. I really think I just received a bunk item though; out of all the chargers I tested this one was by far my favorite and I think I will eventually reorder it and see if I have better luck with another item. At this point there really is no other charger (out of the 6 I have finished testing so far) that I would recommend for the HTC desire or convenient use (the other chargers tend to be bulky). If I do reorder this one, I will update this review.

on a positive note, the seller paid for the return shipping. like the other reviewer the solar charge only works for one day. this battery doesnt charge all the way with the wall charger. it only charged my battery on my lg optimus 20% then it ran out of juice. there are so many other external batteries, but this one is a piece of junk. the first day it showed that there were 4 lights on (out of the five that they had, but i think the last light indicates that it is charging by solar, its a red light) when i had “charged it to its full capacity” it showed 4 lights then when i directly plugged it into the cellphone it showed only three lights. i would never recommend this product. i returned it. now i bought the anker astro2 8400mAh and i have higher hopes for that charger than this one. i will post a review on that one when i get it. yeah it is $30 more than this charger, but i suspect it will be worth the extra money.

I have the htc evo 3d and its android so would there be a app in which i can download that can monitor that if needed. Or would i need another device to test out the portable battery.

Which one looks like the better deal (besides the price) Can anyone help me out? 10 points to best answer. Thanks!

The battery charger to my backup battery will sound an alarm every 20 minutes when my power goes out, requiring me to go downstars and shut off the alarm (a mindless design). I want to find a charger without an alarm because the sound freaks out my dog so much, he literally may go into a seizure. Where can I find one with no alarm? In my opinion, an alarm isn’t necessary…I think it’s pretty obvious when my power goes out that I don’t need a continual reminder of it.

Does the Nikon D3 have a backup battery?
    Like the D700?
I’d be the biggest bummer if not cause my camera just died and I only have the backup battery charger.

    THANK YOU
