I’m doing a research project on her. Why is she important and how does the book Foxfire relate to her.

When I was a little girl my grandfather read me a story about a boy who was scared in the dark and ran to tell a friend he saw ice, or eyes, turned out what the boy was seeing was lightening bugs, he thought they were eyes looking at him. I want to find this story. It may have been in a foxfire book, but I don’t know which one or which chapter, I hope you can help.

To live up to the title of “Aunt Wonderful” to every youngster I know, I try to always have a trick, experiment, helpful hint, etc. for most situations, but I can’t remember where I put the broom one. It was most likely in an old cub scout leader book, farmers almanac, moon or sun sign book, foxfire series and I also have a lot of science experiment books? But it’s been driving me crazy. Can anyone help?

“Foxfire” is the name of a series of books which are anthology collections of material from The Foxfire Magazine. The students’ portrayal of the previously-dismissed culture of Southern Appalachia as a proud, self-sufficient people with simple beliefs, pure joy in living, and rock-solid faith shattered most of the world-at-large’s misconceptions about these “hillbillies”

I have found two ways to kill fire ant nests without harming the environment.
    1) Simply just keep bothering the nest day after day and they will move. After a couple moves the nest wastes to much time moving and not on babies and the nest dies.
    2) I read in the Foxfire books the urine will kill the nest. So I save my urine in old water bottles and when I save up enough I put is directly on the nests. Often this kills the nest the first time, but sometimes I have to treat the nest for two or three days.

Using these two methods I have killed every fire ant nest in my 5 1/2 acre property all without hurting any native ant species. And both methods are FREE.
